This Privacy Policy explains how GridLights, LLC (“GridLights,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects information in connection with our websites, products, and services, including ColdSignal — our commercial refrigeration temperature-monitoring platform of wireless sensors, mesh networking, and a dashboard and mobile application that deliver temperature-excursion alerts by push notification, email, SMS text message, and phone call. By using our websites, products, or services (collectively, the “Services”), you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account and identity information — such as your name, company or organization, job role, username, and account credentials.
- Contact information — including your mobile telephone number and email address, which we use to create your account and to deliver alerts and account notifications.
- Device and sensor telemetry — data reported by your GridLights hardware and sensors, such as temperature readings, device identifiers, signal and mesh-network status, battery levels, firmware versions, and the time and location context associated with your equipment.
- Usage and log data — information about how you interact with the Services, including IP address, browser and device type, operating system, pages and features accessed, and diagnostic and performance logs.
How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, maintain, and secure the Services;
- Create and manage your account and authenticate your access;
- Monitor equipment and deliver temperature-excursion alerts and account notifications by push notification, email, SMS text message, and phone call;
- Respond to your requests and provide customer support;
- Improve, troubleshoot, and develop new features for the Services;
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.
SMS / text messaging
As part of the Services, GridLights offers an SMS text-message alert program that sends transactional temperature-excursion alerts and account notifications to the mobile telephone number associated with your account. This program is used only for operational, service-related messaging — it is not used to send marketing or promotional content.
You provide consent to receive these text messages by entering your mobile telephone number in the GridLights application and enabling SMS alerts. Message frequency varies and is driven by device activity and the alert conditions you configure. Message and data rates may apply. You may opt out of the SMS program at any time by replying STOP to any message, and you can reply HELP for help. Opting out of SMS does not remove your account; alerts may still be delivered through other channels you have enabled, such as push notification, email, or phone call.
Information sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with service providers and subcontractors who perform services on our behalf, and as required to operate the Services, comply with law, or protect our rights. With respect to mobile and text-messaging information:
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing to subcontractors in support services, such as customer service, is permitted. All other use case categories exclude text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services, and thereafter for the period necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and maintain accurate business and telemetry records. When information is no longer required, we delete or de-identify it.
Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction, including encryption in transit, access controls, and monitoring. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and rights
You may access and update your account information, adjust the alert channels you use, and opt out of SMS messaging as described above. Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have additional rights regarding your personal information, such as the right to request access, correction, or deletion. Cookies
Our websites use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the Services are used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect the functionality of the Services.
Children’s privacy
The Services are intended for businesses and adults and are not directed to children under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child, we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Services after an update takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
